Did you know there’s a tunnel under Ocean Boulevard?

When my first 2023 “albums of the year” list was made, spring was creeping around the corner. Now, this mid-year check-in finds us in the dead, dry heat of summer, and my next will pop up right as autumn cools us off. Of course, the year-end review will fall like a snowflake as December wraps up (or January begins). The seasons have been speeding by this year, and I’m back to share with you all what new records have been on the playlist to my 2023 thus far. I bet you’ll recognize most, if not all of, the ten artists below, but if a new one strikes you, I hope you check them out. Off we go!

10. Miley Cyrus — “Endless Summer Vacation”
9. Mac DeMarco — “Five Easy Hot Dogs”
8. Gracie Abrams — “Good Riddance”
7. Janelle Monáe — “The Age Of Pleasure”
6. Rae Sremmurd — “Sremm 4 Life”
5. Fall Out Boy — “So Much (For) Stardust”
4. Paramore — “This Is Why”
3. Margo Price — “Strays”
2. Jessie Ware — “That! Feels Good!”
1. boygenius — “the record”

A plethora of past and upcoming releases remain to be listened to. I’ve spent the majority of the last three months re-consuming practically every single Taylor Swift song, and now that her unbelievable concert has come and gone, I can take more time checking out what else 2023 has to offer. Have any music for me to try out? Let me know! I’ll return at the end of the third quarter for another visit. Woohoo!
