Ranking: 96th Academy Awards — “Best Picture” Nominees (From Worst To Best)

Is there really anything like the Oscars? To me, there just isn’t. If tonight isn’t my favorite overall night of the year, it sure is up there. The last twelve months saw me continuing the hallmark tradition of seeing every single Best Picture nominee before the big show. For the first time since 2020, I got to see all ten in a movie theater, even though I had to occasionally travel many hours and stay up well past my bedtime to do so. Sitting down in a cinema to watch a film remains the cream of the crop. I’ll happily forfeit the extra time, money, and schedule openings to do so until the end of time. Although I wasn’t especially crazy about some of them, all ten motion pictures below hold some beautiful artistic merit that deserves to be recognized. Who will go home with the gold guy tonight? Here’s what I think…

“Killers Of The Flower Moon” — directed by Martin Scorsese
“American Fiction” — directed by Cord Jefferson
“Maestro” — directed by Bradley Cooper
“The Zone Of Interest” — directed by Jonathan Glazer
“The Holdovers” — directed by Alexander Payne
“Anatomy Of A Fall” — directed by Justine Triet
“Poor Things” — directed by Yorgos Lanthimos
“Past Lives” — directed by Celine Song
“Barbie” — directed by Greta Gerwig
“Oppenheimer” — directed by Christopher Nolan

Enjoy the Oscars!
